Advertisements

Advertisements should not make direct or indirect claims that experimental interventions are therapeutically beneficial or safe.

Incentives that are offered for subjects, whether financial or non-financial, should not be the emphasis on advertisements. Incentives should not make subjects join or remain in a study when they otherwise would not. Note that even small rewards may sway people’s decisions to participate in a study.

Advertisements are seen as the start of the informed consent process and all advertisements have to be approved by the research ethics committee. (2)
